Looking to add some airflow to your 2007.5-2018 Cummins diesel? This is the mod for you. This gets rid of the restrictive failure-prone Heater delete grid, and offers a billet anodized plate in its place. This gets rid of the factory restriction, and possible dreaded bolt dropping into the cylinder. The delete plate is machined from solid 6061-T6 in 4 different colors and has the standoffs as PART of the plate. This costs more to machine but means you are not trying to hold a stand off and line up bolts at the same time, which can be a cuss-worthy endeavor.
The kit includes:
- Heater Grid delete plate in choice of color
- OEM Gasket set
- Map sensor harness extender
NOTES:
This mod WILL cause a check engine light if not tuned out, and it’s cold enough for the stock heater grid to engage. This can be tuned out easily with just about any tuner.
Cold Start Questions:
Many people ask if this upgrade will affect cold starting. The long and short answer is yes, and no. If you live in a VERY cold climate it can affect starting. We have tested this all the way down to 32 degrees F and noticed NO difference in starting quality on a 2017 3500. If you live in a sub-zero climate you may experience rougher cold starts, this is a trade-off for higher flow. Some we have heard remove the plate in the wintertime to aid in starting. This is all personal preference.
